WHAT FELINE ALLERGY TESTS DOES AVACTA ANIMAL HEALTH OFFER?

Avacta Allergy + Complete Environmental & Food

This test includes the environmental panel (indoor & outdoor) and the food panel.

Environmental Test

By measuring allergen-specific IgE antibodies present in the serum, the Avacta Allergy+™ environmental test can help to identify environmental allergens for both allergen avoidance purposes and to select for inclusion in allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).

Why use serological allergy testing?

Serological testing enables you to provide additional management and therapeutic options (such as ASIT) for allergy cases. Only by identifying relevant allergens are you able to offer all long-term solutions as part of an effective management programme for this life-long condition.

The Avacta Allergy+™ environmental test contains allergens from the following groups:

  • Grasses
  • Weeds
  • Trees and shrubs
  • Mites and fleas
  • Dander
  • Moulds

Food Test

The only way to diagnose a food allergy is by conducting a food trial. Using the Avacta Allergy+™ food test can help identify which foods are the most appropriate to use for the food trial.

How does the feline food test help?

The Avacta Allergy+ food test measures allergen-specific IgG and IgE antibodies against food allergens and is designed to assist in the selection of novel foods, or commercial diets, for an elimination diet trial. The results of the test are printed in a clear visual format to help with owner understanding and engagement; in turn helping to promote stricter compliance.

The Avacta Allergy+ food test contains allergens from the following groups:

  • Mammalian, avian, and fish proteins
  • Carbohydrates
  • Vegetables

Additional resources to support you and your clients when conducting a diet trial can be found in the ‘Resources’ section of the Practice Portal.

Avacta Allergy + Screens

Screens are available for both food and environmental panels, and offer a positive or negative result only. Screens can be expanded on request.

Allergy Screening

Avacta Allergy+™ screens provide a cost-effective solution if you suspect allergic disease. Using the same ELISA based technology as our other allergy tests, the results will show you either a single positive or a negative result to each mixed allergen panel. You can then investigate further if desired, by expanding any positive allergen panel to gain individual allergen results.

This provides an economic method for allergen investigation identification and, following expansion of any panels with positive results, is an excellent precursor to allergen-specific immunotherapy and targeted allergen avoidance.
