How to submit a sample from outside the UK

SENDING SAMPLES SUCCESSFULLY TO OUR UK LABORATORY

 

Samples arriving at our UK laboratory must be compliant with current regulatory legislation, including UN3373, and require specific documentation depending on their country of origin. Avacta Animal Health are experienced in providing all the necessary import documentation, alongside guidance and support on shipping samples successfully.

EU member states (including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Isle of Man & Channel Islands)

  • All samples must be shipped to us under the animal-by-products regulations by an Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) approved transporter. APHA approved couriers include FedEx, DHL and TNT.

 

  • Please notify Avacta Animal Health at technical.support@avacta.com prior to each shipment by emailing a SCANNED COPY of all completed documentation, including the Commercial Invoice and transportation tracking number, at least 24 hours before the shipment reaches the UK border.

 

  • Both of the following documents must accompany the sample shipment and be attached to the OUTSIDE OF THE PACKAGE:
Facilitation Letter
Consignment Authorisation Letter (EU member states)

One compliance label (please see bottom of Consignment Authorisation letter) per package should be cut out and attached to the OUTSIDE of the package.

SAMPLING CHECKLIST FOR SEROLOGICAL ALLERGY TESTING

 

Use the checklist below to aid optimal sampling timing & preparation prior to submission.

 

  • A diagnosis of allergic disease has been made
  • The animal was symptomatic when the sample was taken (this is the optimum time to sample)
  • The animal is not on/has not recently been on any medication which could interfere with test results
  • The animal has not been on a restricted diet for at least 8 weeks (applicable to food test only)
  • The sample has been spun down to provide serum and to reduce the risk of haemolysis
  • All samples are clearly labelled and minimum sample requirements adhered to
